What to Wear
Suggestions for your headshot session
Suggestions for Kids
- Clothing that is cleaned, pressed, ironed, wrinkle-free, looks like you just bought it
- Tops: solid colors and bright colors work particularly well. Bring choices — putting thought into this can yield a better outcome. if you’re doing 2 looks, avoid bringing the same shirt in two different colors. Try to create some contrast.
- Bottoms: keep it simple with bottoms like jeans, khakis, really any kind of pants that compliment the top. Please no sweats or workout shorts. Please also avoid leggings unless they match the top. Pants can often be seen in the more 3/4 (farther back) shots.
- Clothing from brands like The Children’s Place, Gap, Old Navy and Kohls work well
- Don’t worry about shoes – you won’t see them:)
- A stylist will be available to do your makeup and touch up your hair. If you prefer to do your own makeup or have it professionally done, please keep it natural. While we can touch-up your hair, we will not be able to restyle your hairdo or change your hair from curly to straight or vice versa.
What NOT To Wear:
- Busy patterns
- Logos (unless they are subtle)
- Turtlenecks
- Anything that will distract from your face (skinny stripes aren’t so great either)
- Anything super trendy; your child should not wear anything so specific that it will pigeonhole them in a specific role or look
- Dance tops or glittery tops
- Jewelry
- Oversized clothing (t-shirts are fine if they are fitted and not baggy)
- Hair accessories
